At PTXPO 2025, a focused workshop featuring industry experts will share best practices in molding machine maintenance.

Injection molders sell time and if that time isn’t filled with production, it’s costly. A July 2024 report from Siemens stated that every unproductive hour now costs automotive manufacturers a $2.3 million — up twofold from 2019. Most injection molders and moldmakers are a few steps removed from OEMs’ assembly lines, but that doesn’t spare them the pain of interrupted production, for which all end markets penalize. According to the report, beyond immediate revenue loss, unscheduled downtime has hidden costs as well, including paying both the staff who can’t work and those fixing the equipment; the premium price for urgent replacement parts; and contractual penalties for failing to meet production quotas.

Best practices for machine maintenance, including predictive and preventive regimens, will be addressed as part of PTXPO’s series of Discovery Workshops.
